The classic recipe (1 baking sheet)
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped almonds
Method
- Line baking sheet with parchment
- In heavy pot, combine butter + sugar + water
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly
- Use candy thermometer; cook to 290°F (hard crack)
- Remove from heat; add vanilla
- Pour onto baking sheet
- Sprinkle chocolate chips on top
- Let chocolate melt (3-5 min)
- Spread with spatula
- Sprinkle nuts
- Cool completely (2 hours)
- Break into pieces
