Method

  1. Line baking sheet with parchment
  2. In heavy pot, combine butter + sugar + water
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly
  4. Use candy thermometer; cook to 290°F (hard crack)
  5. Remove from heat; add vanilla
  6. Pour onto baking sheet
  7. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top
  8. Let chocolate melt (3-5 min)
  9. Spread with spatula
  10. Sprinkle nuts
  11. Cool completely (2 hours)
  12. Break into pieces
