My two year old son has Pneumonia I took him into urgent care and they took a chest x-ray. Well I found someone to cover my shift for the night but I feel bad for taken off work. My mom and a couple other people said I could have went in he would be fine. I feel with my motherly instinct that I need to stay home with him to make sure this medicine works this time if not I will have to take him to the emergency room. I would have his father watch him but he is out of town working and if I do go in it would be his 15 year old sister watching him. I just don’t feel comfortable leaving my baby with her when he is this sick. I feel like I need to go into work then another part of me is saying stay home with your baby. Oh what would you do?

I would say screw work, my kid needs me and is more important right now. I’ve always put family 10 steps above work anyway though…so that’s just me.

Welcome to the pleasures of being a working mom. Don’t worry they understand at work. if you feel like you should be with your son at least the first night then you should.

When you had your child you committed yourself to them completely. You did the right thing, a child wants their mother when they are sick. There is nothing like being comforted by the loving arms of your mother. Besides, honestly..a 15 year old child should not be put into such a worrisome situation. Again, you did the right thing!!

    You made the right choice.
Also, watching a very sick child is a huge responsibility for a 15 year old. Just think how she would feel if something went wrong.
You not only protected him, but her as well.

yes, my son has chronic asthma, so he gets sick all the time so i know how you feel. you should stay home and if your work gives you a hard time about it you should ask them if they have ever heard of the Mother Law. you are entitled to stay home if you children need your care no matter what. plus when kids are sick all they want is their mommy any way it will make him feel better knowing you are there to take care of him. good luck and i hope he feels better soon.

Your family comes first, always. You did the right thing, stay home with him. You son would want you there to comfort him and not his sister. There’s nothing like a mother’s love when you’re sick.

I always like to stay at home with my little girl when she is sick and just have a cuddle day. All they want when they are sick is mommy or daddy.
