If it meant you got to quit your job and stay home?

Would you be happy to sacrifice control over the finances in order to stay home and raise the children (or not) and look after the household duties? Would you be happy to have to rely on your partner for an income?

Would you trust your spouse/partner to provide you with an appropriate allowance, knowing they could take it away at any time if they so choose to (not that they would – but the control is theirs)?

Would you be prepared to make this sacrifice in order to stay home?

2 Thoughts on Would you be happy to hand financial control over to your spouse…?

I would only if I get to have a say as to where the money goes and how it’s spent and not just him.I would want to be included in the decision making of the finances as well, I hate it when men find the need to control all the money and give their wife or partner an allowance like a small child. I think that both of you should sit down together and discuss how mmuchyou get each week and what you can afford to spend on. But ttotalcontrol without the wife knowing anything no, I don’t agree. And I always think that it’s a good idea for the women who doesn’t work to have a account for herself only, where she can put some saving in, iin casehe stops paying her and she ddoesn’thave to rely on him.

EDIT: I just wanted to add, my view might be different if I was hopeless at the finances! I might then think, well they can do that and I’ll take on some other responsibility. That could very well work, as long as it was understood that the family income was just that and not simply something one person owned and could spend as they pleased while the other had to beg for a few dollars.

No. Whether I worked in the home or out of it, I would always want to have a partnership in every aspect of our joint lives.

This is not just about relinquishing control, however.

It’s also about accepting the responsibility for making decisions and setting priorities.

When one person has all the control, they also have all the responsibility.

I would not feel comfortable with either of those situations, I want to share my life with my partner in all aspects.

    Cheers 🙂
