I was in the middle of selling my house when an incident occured and I HAD to file a Homeowners claim. Will I still be able to sell my house even though this claim is still in the process?
It wasn’t any fault of the house…

3 Thoughts on Will there be an issue with me selling my House during a homeowners claim?

    Depends on type of claim.
if structural in nature – put off
    selling till corrected.
if personal body injury do check
    with lawyer.

If it has to do with the house- it will very likely prevent the new owner from getting insurance and so it will prevent them from getting a mortgage.

The really sucky thing about insurance claims is they run with the property. Your claim means the buyer has to be pay really high insurance until the house no longer exists. A personal pet peeve of mine.

Yes, you have to inform the buyer and the buyers lender. Since the higher insurance costs may well kill the deal with either one of them it can easily put a stop to this sale ever closing.
