No the the question is who was the last PRES who reduced the debt. Thats the real question. Doesnt matter whether they’re liberal or conservative. Debt has been growing and growing and growing. Obviously Clinton didn’t do anything about it Obama currently is not either. He’s spending more.

I think you’d have to go back to Calvin Coolidge on that one.

The last Democrat who did it was Truman.

And yes, Clinton did pay down some debt during the latter half of his term, but still increased it by some $ 1.6 Trillion during the totality of his term.

NAME ONE President who has decreased the National Debt. This is not a Right or Left problem this is an American problem. They all need to get back on track and stop increasing the debt and cut back and have a surplus.

    Dwight D Eisenhower.

It should be noted that in the last half century the US debt has only gone down during a Republican Administration.

It has risen during every single Democrat one.

Ginger, to answer your question, Clinton “borrowed” money from the social security program. He did not reduce the deficit and did not leave Bush with a surplus. Google ‘Clinton borrowed money from social security’ and just read the results.

It ended up being one big lie and then everyone decided to harp on the fiscal irresponsibility of Bush. He was no prize either but his first year in office was actually Clinton’s fault not his.

Does it really matter now. It certainly will not change anything going forward and obama is just making it worse. We will never recover from this. Where are the jobs? We need someone who has some fiscal responsibility and it certainly is not obama.
