Everyone I know knows someone who is in massive unsustainable student debt and is really struggling. To top it off, food prices keep rising and everything seems to be getting more expensive. When will Oama give debt relief to poor college students. I hope the govt doesnt start selling these loans to pay off its debt. We need help. I know stupid selfish cons will cry and whine but where were you when Bush was bailing out the banks. Would you rather bailout banks than poor college students, Have a heart cons!

The student loans are an investment . if the investment does not work out, then you lose. No bailout for failed investments is my opinion.

Bailouts for individuals will never occur. At best there will be programs to help enable students to take out more loans and get further into debt. But since many students go to public institutions that is likely to be frowned upon by corporate america, unless public colleges and universities are done away with first.

And who has caused the cost of college to skyrocket? You can’t blame Republicans on this one. It is Democrats who keep increasing the amount of college aid available. Colleges realize that there’s more money for them, so they raise tuition.

What will happen if we bailout college students? Tuition will hike in a dramatic fashion. Do you understand how inflation works? If every citizen were given $ 100,000 to spend in the economy, you would soon see BMWs sell for $ 120,000 or more. Vacation resorts would go for like $ 20,000 a night or more.

Tuition at harvard used to be 25% of an average worker’s salary. Why do you think it hiked? Financial aid.

If financial aid were to reduce, tuition fees might roll back.

Inflation could be brought under control in time (which of course slows the rising prices of goods)….if the government and fed take particular actions….but relief for student loan debt is never going to happen (not from conservatives or from liberals…regardless of what they might say).

The Federal government guarantees federal student loans to the banks. Which means that if they are allowed to be discharged in bankruptcy the Federal government would need to pay the bill. The Federal government cannot afford to do so for even a small percentage of those debts (and it would not have anywhere near the amount of support required to do so).

So long as the Fed is driving up inflation by/and holding down interest rates (Qualitative Easing and similar “ideas”)….prices will continue to rise. Republicans generally oppose inflationary practices….the current Democratic Administration support such measures.

My suggestion….consolidate your student loans and pay them on time…learn how to live under a budget….and vote Republican. You will find with time…that will benefit you financially over the long haul.

To not pay them on time and continuing to vote for Democrats that push up inflation rates….you are doing yourself (and those like you) no favors.
