    last two years tax paperwork, statements of any bills you pay such as credit cards, vehicles, basically anything that will ahve a balance.

    tax returns, or paystubs, bank statements, ss#, drivers license. their may be more

    Most mortgage brokers will just need to speak to you on the phone and run your credit. Answer all the questions honestly and candidly. Think of your mortgage broker as your Priest. Confess all the dirt that could bite you later on. He will find it anyway and it is better to know at the start than find out at the close of escrow and …. not close.

    I just did this Friday….Verify income and current bank statements. I ended up faxing about 13 pages of paperwork to a loan officer.

    Income tax filings for two years. Records of any assets, savings, investments. Records of any bills, money owed.

    1. 2 months paycheck stubs from you and your spouse (if applicable)

    2. 2 months bank statements, all pages from all accounts.

    3. insurance agent data (contact name & phone) borrower’s tend to go with agent holding auto insurance for their homeowners policy. You also my want to call and get some quotes but, be careful you don’t want too many inquiries on your credit prior to closing your loan.

    4. W-2’s covering previous 2 years.

    5. If self-employed you will need previous 2 years 1040’s.

    6. If you are using alimony or child support as extra income loan officer will need copy of full divorce decree and birth certificate for any minor children.

    7. If you filed Bankruptcy – bring copy along with your discharge.

    you shouldn’t need to bring anything for a pre-approval. They should fill out a detailed mortgage application and pull your credit to see what you qualify for. Once you are approved then you will have to provide documentation..
