I want to switch insurance companies, but I don’t know how to decide what to switch to. Insurance is such a confusing thing to start with that I need to find a company that is helpful as well as affordable.
I’m looking for a company to cover automobile and homeowner’s insurance, and if possible life insurance too.
Thanks for the help.

Life companies are totally different from property/casualty (auto and homeowners) companies.

One of my favorite property/casualty companies is Erie Insurance – but they don’t write in many states, so that will do you NO GOOD if they don’t write in your state.

There really aren’t any good shortcuts. You’ll have to call around and shop around. You can take a LITTLE shortcut by calling a locall, independent agent that represents 5-6 companies, but you’ll have to compare and contrast coverages and premiums. The agent can help you out on that, too.

Auto Owners is a great company for both auto and home. Have had them for years. They pay their claims. Never had a problem with them.

I have Farmers insurance for my home and Allstate for my cars. I have been very satisfied with both. It is smart to have your auto and home with the same carrier because they will offer you a multi-policy discount. I haven’t due to certain circumstances. Some property/casualty companies offer life insurance, like AutoOwners or Allstate (American Heritage Life), but it’s usually expensive going through your auto/home company to get life insurance.

The better way to do it is to speak to a local life insurance agent who can run quotes for you for a variety of top rated companies. You will happier in the end if you split your auto/home from your life insurance.

    I hope that helps!
