    At one time, FHA (Federal Housing Administration) did not require minimum credit scores. Times have changed and now FHA, like all lenders, have requirements. With a credit score at or above 580, a borrower is eligible for maximum financing which ultimately means a minimum down payment of 3.5%. With a credit score between 500 and 579, a 10% down payment is required. Any borrower with a credit score below 500 is no longer eligible for FHA financing.
