I don’t think there are any obstacles created by assets to get married. But assets can become a real nightmare if the marriage does not work. If you are thinking about getting married I suggest you consult with a family lawyer about “prenuptial agreement”.

I have done this, and there are no obstacles with obtaining loans. You’ll get a better rate with 2 people. The thing you have to worry about is when you sell the home or if the relationship goes badly… what happens? Personally, I would draft a written document stating a 50/50 split (or whatever is fair in your situation). If you ever have to go to court, the signed document should be upheld. No one thinks about future problems when times are good, but it’s always best to protect yourself!
