Took a second mortgage on a house … home selling landed about 14 months. In this process, Wamu (which was the first and second mortgage) agreed that the short sale and has been with the 6500th second mortgage for $ Under what is owed. I saw a letter he had been paid as agreed and we released from any liability in the balance. Wamu now Chase and Chase, our account of a collection agency and collection agency said that Chase did not forgive second mortgages. However, when we took it was that Wamu and have a letter saying I know who have a “full refund” on it from the county with the loan number. Chase may come after us now, even if Wamu did and said in fact that “By accepting less interest payments in the amount of our trips in the release of full ownership, you are exempted from payment of the balance deficit Unload .. . and he goes on to note how much can be reported to the IRS and what it is to our credit, etc. “account paid in full for less than full balance” thinking. Thanks for all the answers.

No they cannot., Send a letter with a copy of your paid in full letter, stating the harassment ceases or you will be suing. Fight back and fight back hard.

if you have a letter from them, send them a copy of it and remind them of that

    – you may very well have to claim income for the part of the loan that was forgiven – forgiven debt is income – they might be sending you a 1099/1098 with that amount on it and you’ll have to include it as income on your tax return

any kind of “settlement of debt” is going to affect your credit score negatively, so that damage is already done probably
