Hello. I have about $ 4K in credit debt, make about $ 60K a year, and have a FICO score of 638, which I understand isn’t bad, but certainly not something to brag about either.

I have recently fallen on hard times and would like increase one of my CC’s credit lines from 1300 to 2000 or so. Given the above, is that even reasonable? Or should I look for some other way?

And yes, I know I should be more financially responsible… I was dilligently paying it off except for a very recent hardship.

Thanks for your time.

it won’t really hurt you to call and ask the banks for a credit line increase.

it may be easier just to get another card, though.

More credit will not help your situation, Figure a way to live within your means while you pay off what you owe now

If you borrow more, you will regret it.

Most credit card companies have a form where you can request a credit line increase. They may look at your credit report, but since it is decent, you shouldn’t have much to worry about. You certainly make enough to handle the extra money on your credit card. They should increase it as long as you’re good about making payments on time, and you’re not asking for too much more.
