I asked earlier where people tho rt the leak was coming from but can see I did not give enough info.
I live on the first floor( five floors in building) and woke to find running running down my bedroom walls. It goes all round the room and is nearly toching the light bulb in the middle of the ceiling.
It is also running down two walls in the bathroom.
There is no water tank in my flat so I do not know what is happening.
I went to the lady above me and her floor is soaking.
It sems to be coming from there but we do not have water tanks in our flats.
What do you think is the cause.

PS: Is the housing association liable for the damage as I do not have insurance.

Many thanks in advance.
PS: I have already called the housing association.
Did that at 7am before I came on here to ask.

I still say a broken pipe….call housing immediately. Not sure about the liability issue though….

It sounds like a water line is busted. You need to call the fire department to help you. The ceiling could come down on you. It could also start a fire. This is a very dangerous situation and you dont need to be sitting on the puter. GET OUT

It is a water pipe running through your ceiling (upstairs floor) – or maybe even a wall. Housing association might be liable – I dont know.

As with everyone else, i would say a fitting, probably a hot water fitting, is leaking. get out of the house!!! Before you go, turn off all electrical power at the breaker panel!! this could lead to a seriuos electrical fire!! Get everyone out and call the fire department, and the housing authority!!

your contents insurance will cover the damage, and settle with the housing authority later. If you don’t have insurance, try to take as many pictures as possible before you vacate, including the floor upstairs from you!!

    Now….GET OUT, QUICKLY!! CALL 911…NOW!!!
