(hope I’m putting this in the correct section & I really hope this is not as stupid as it sounds after I actually typed it out)
Do you all update your income on your credit card’s websites?
I only did this every once in a while at first but then 2 or 3 years ago, I started doing it every year after we filed our taxes. We have been very fortunate as our income has increased a lot over the last few years.
I have only every hit the CLI button 2 or 3 times in my 12 years of credit history. All my other CLI have been from the creditor. I think that the last few auto CLI have come from me updating the household income.
I am kind of afraid to keep updating/increasing the income b/c I am afraid that a creditor, like AMEX, will want the income tax forms (what if they don’t believe we actually make the stated income?) I have no problem with an AMEX audit. We don’t hide anything and we don’t lie about our income. But my husband has no love for AMEX and says as long as you pay your bills on time and don’t spend irresponsibley, they should have no need to ask for the tax records. I believe my husband’s biggest issue with this is he has a small company and b/c of the kind of Corporation it is, it’s taxes get filed w/ our personal income taxes and he does not want that being sent to AMEX (he does not have an AMEX and probably never will).
So basically, has anyone gotten a request from any credit card company, like AMEX for updating your income? Should I just keep updating the income and not worry about it (am I being stupid? lol)
Thank you to anyone with insight on this!
