The market is soft. There are many experienced loan officers looking for work, do to offices closing, etc. It may be good to do part time, on the side, in order to learn the business. I would keep the teaching job, for now.

I have been involved in real estate for over 30 years. This is the worst I have ever seen it. They do not exaggerate when they say that this is the worst since the Great Depression.

With the current real estate market situation nation wide, now is not a good time to become a loan officer if you want to make money.

If you want to become a loan officer you need to go to a lender and get state certified by taking an ethics exam and an exam concerning loans and real estate. Not too difficult, but necessary to get into the insurance/loan industry.

Good luck.
