Ok,I received a letter from CU Recovery Inc collection agency out of Minnesota today. It’s a debt from an old auto loan from very close to 2003. I’m not sure if the balance now is relevant, but it’s $ 7,283.95. The original amount was $ 3,[email protected]%. I paid on the loan for approximately 5 months and I lost my job. And haven’t touched it or heard from it since..The letter is instructing me to choose from a few payment plans which I will not agree to in any way. From what I learned here on this forum, it’s out of SOL and they can not collect on it in any way. Unless I agree to a payment plan which will reset the SOL. Then they can legally insert into my credit report. Let’s back this up a few month. A few months ago I received a call from this same company asking me about this debt. At that time I did not agree to anything, and I denied everything bc I honestly couldn’t recall this debt off memory bc it was so long ago. I took out the loan when I was 18, I’m now 30 years old. Well I told them on the phone to not ever call me in regards to this matter again, as well as to not call my friends, family or employment. Don’t send me mail or anything in any way, adds to redirect my wishes per the FDCPA. Well I got a call again from them weeks later asking me about this debt and I was short with them. I told them to stop calling me,I consider it harassment and the debt was past SOL and i then hung up. I have not heard from them since, until now. Nothing is on my report and I want to know what my next step should be. Should I send them a letter of some sort? File CFPB complaint or? Iv been rebuilding my Credit for 3 years and I’m not going to take steps backwards. Please and thank you for your help.
