It appears Citi has decided to update the design for the card to go along with the changes they announced recently.

Looks a lot like the Prestige card, except the magstripe is much easier to find.

Processing a Credit Card Swipe (USB Card Reader) using c#

JLM replied 5 years ago

Switch() would have been better. But thanks for the example.

Qamar Uddin replied 5 years ago

Unnecessarily long videos. You should keep it short and focused.

Hi Mark! This is a very good video. I am working on a similar project that
uses a contactless card reader. I have written down the c# code for
extracting the data from the card (using MiFareAccess), but am unable to
get the output. Am i missing a crucial link here? Please help!

Mark Hagan replied 5 years ago

Sorry, but I don’t have any experience with an RFID reader. 🙁

Mark Hagan replied 5 years ago

@FlightOfGrey I will try to get that video posted on here tomorrow.

hey Mark… Thanks for the tutorial… However, i dont see any code that
interface with the Serial port/USB in your tutorial…. It looks like it
just do the string manipulation correct ? can you please make a tutorial on
how to get data from the device ? Thanks

Senthan Jey replied 5 years ago

Thank you very much for doing this.. This video saved me time. Keep it up
the good work

Mark Hagan replied 5 years ago

@FlightOfGrey I am glad that you liked it! I will work on the mic issues
for the next video.

Mark Hagan replied 5 years ago

I am glad you found it helpful! Feel free to buy me a beer using the link
in the description! I built BeerDonation (dot com) to get some experience
with Stripe Platform (beta). I uploaded a video of how to do this using
ASP.Net / C#: just hit my YouTube page to check it out.

FlightOfGrey replied 5 years ago

Just a few moments when the mic whistles or something and it gets really
high pitched otherwise I found it interesting and you did a good job of
talking all the way through. Thanks.

Mark Hagan replied 5 years ago

Sorry, but I don’t. 🙁 I will keep my eyes open and maybe something will
pop up that fits that description. If it does, I will update my website
with the link.

Virrencia, Just follow my video and build it. There is no software
required. If you are looking for the device, hit up Amazon. Just search
Amazon for USB Credit Card Reader: they range from $20-30 USD.

FlightOfGrey replied 5 years ago

Nice interesting video, I would definitely be interested in seeing how to
send a text message that you mentioned towards the end.

Virrencia Kearse replied 5 years ago

WHERE CAN I FIND THIS SOFTWARE

Mark Hagan replied 5 years ago

@MikeMichellelucas I am glad you liked it! Note that this reader will also
work with Medical Insurance cards. Probably not helpful for you, but I had
someone message me asking for an example: the code is the same.

Andrew Nguyen replied 5 years ago

Thanks for response Mark. Can you please do the bar code reader app using
usb device as well? THanks Andrew

Mark Hagan replied 5 years ago

@avnerify You should be able to just copy the code that I have and change
the field names to match your winform field names.

Mark Hagan replied 5 years ago

I am glad you asked this! There IS NO code for interfacing with the serial
port / usb. The device just uses a keyboard driver and sends the characters
it scans just as if someone where typing them. You will not need any
special software to make this work.

sumit goyal replied 5 years ago

good work Mark . can you make a video on how to make GPS Navigation app for
windows mobiles ?

markiyanm replied 5 years ago

When you do a mag stripe transaction you get a lower rate than you do when
you key in a card which is what you end up doing if you parse out the card
and exp date out of the mag stripe. You probably want to use the mag stripe
data if you have it. I haven’t used stripe though it does look interesting
but I would suggest looking at gateways like Merchant Warehouse or authnet
which not only support swiped sales but also have hosted versions so your
software doesn’t need to get audited for PA-DSS.

Mark Hagan replied 5 years ago

I no longer have my bar code reader. 🙁 The code and the process is 100%
the same. It also masquerades as a keyboard.
