I have learned a lot from all of you guys since I’ve joined the forum, and would like to say thanks to all the members posting on these really useful threads.
I think it’s time I address the only negative item I have on my CR. I need advice on how to proceed with this medical collection. Here is some info on the current situation:
In summer 2011 I went to the dentist with insurance and paid the bills they gave me the same day. Three months later, I received a collection letter from First Federal Credit and Collection with a past due amount of $ 388 with an original balance of $ 286.
The explanation from the dentist was that my insurance did not cover some of the procedures and they tried to contact me with no success. It turns out they were sending me letters without my apartment number on them.
I called First Federal back in 2011 and offered to pay in full in return for complete deletion but the CSR did not accept my offer.
Last month I contacted the dentist’s office and offered to pay the bill if they would give me proof in writing they would retract the account from the CA. The office manager was cooperative until I asked for proof of deletion, to which she responded I should “take her word” and she would “try” to get the CA to remove it. She also mentioned they no longer work with First Federal Credit and Collection due to some prior issues, which made me even more skeptical.
Here is how the account show up on CCT.
