So we are closing on a home that is almost at 95% complete. Everything was going smooth, until we callled the IRS to make arrangments on our 2014 tax return. IRS agent notified me that they havent received my tax return for 2013. They have my husbands but not mine. Turns out they rejected our joint 2013 tax return because someone else filed under my husbands social security number. We just turned in the idenity theft affidavit form and supposed to wait average of 180 days to be resolved. Underwriting needs confirmation of taxes owed (we do owe) from IRS (IRS letter) to proceed. I’m doomed. Does anyone know how I can resolve this faster with the IRS? Has anyone heard or gone through this? If I cant get this resolved in  a few weeks, the home that we picked, designed and put upgrade money will slip from our hands and be put on the market if it really takes over 4 months to get resolved.
