A few months ago I disputed some old hospital bills from 2012. If I had honestly owed the debt there was no way to tell because it was reporting as duplicate collections a few dollars off from each other. In Feb. they removed the first set, and then in March they removed the second set. I thought all was good with the world. Now here almost two months later I start getting calls from the collection agency, and today I get a letter offering to settle the debt AND remove it from my report (which it isn’t on) for half of what I owe. I feel like maybe they are trying to get contact with me so they can verify and have the debt put back on my report. Has this happened to anyone AFTER a successful dispute? Should I contact and try to settle? Or are they grasping at straws?
