    VA is the veteran’s admin–they provide medical care for
    wounded vets and $ for houses for vets

    FHA insures loans, they do not make them.

    FHA and/or the VA NEVER funded home mortgages. They INSURED them. That means a private bank was willing to give you a loan, because the government, though FHA and the VA promised to pay the bank if you did not.

    NOTE: to the first two answers: The VA does, or did, insure mortgages for veterans.
