Short answer, No. While it’s no different than having someone answer a newspaper add, internet crimes are far more common than newspaper crims. I assume you have a phone number for the person as well as a name. Keep those handy. Have a friend come over at the time that it’s scheduled to be picked up with the simple explanation that you may need help moving it.

Obviously if someone were looking for a home to rob, knowing your address really isn’t dangerous. They aren’t buying a front door key from you. However, personal safety IS an issue. If they show up early and your friend isn’t there, step outside and politely tell them that you’re just waiting on a friend to help with the moving. After all, you have a bad back, pulled a calf muscle, or whatever and won’t be much help.

Realistically meeting at your home is not ideal, but since the item is a couch and you cant really get around that, just make sure you’re not home alone. I had a woman pick up a wireless pet fence up at my home, She was actually a very nice woman. But not everyone is quite so kind, Air on the side of caution, intentionally have your doors locked before they come so when they knock, its obviously locked and they’ll assume you always have your home locked up. Also if you have a dog, let it bark a bit before opening it, Chances are if they were coming to scope out your house to see if it’s an easy target to come back to in the night, a locked door and large dog may be enough to kick that thought right out of their head.
