is it possible, if gatherd enough people as a group buy enough stock to become primary shareholders of a comp.?
specifically using bank of america. BofA’s market capital is about 62.9B. So if i divide that number by their current share price of $ 6.21 i get a 10B in total shares. so i though if i can get 15% of the US population (4.5M) to each pay $ 1000 that amount adds up to $ 45B. That groups $ 45B would buy a little under 75% of the company’s stock, making them the primary share holders. Once again this is just a thought i had not to sure if its feasible in reality. I thought its a nice concept especially in these times of financial crisis and bank bailouts. This would truly make it the bank of AMERICA run by the american people. hopefully turning business around
hey guys thanks for the feedback. Rose, ya i personally don’t have a million friends lol. If i was to some how go about getting members, i would hope the power of social networking could do the job of spreading the word and raising interest. Joe, very good points. Your second point about a unified voice is ultimately what i am going far. I am aware of the major debt held by BofA, and your right it would be kinda bad buying a already failing company. Do you think the same concept would be successful in more stable and growing company. I guess what im trying to accomplish is rather than have these huge corps with vast influence in our economy and society, should not be left in the hands of a select few from the upper class. maybe its just a pipe dream, but i feel if a company was run by unified group with members from all backgrounds, races, classes, etc. I feel that would allow investors to have good faith in that company, hopefully resulting in growth, development, and overall fair
