    Pay cash.

2 grand is enough to get you a decent used car. Budget an extra grand for repairs over the next year or two (maybe a little more if you can’t do any work yourself) and you’re golden.

Forget dealers. They. Will. Screw. You. (you are precisely the sort of person who gets most screwed)

Just keep paying your bills and eventually you’ll be able to get a decent car loan.

Look for a 1994 to 1996 Honda Civic.

i am a finance manager at a dealership the score isnt that important a lot of my banks use credit scoring system which is based on employment time residence time income then credit history the score dosent say much they base it on whats in your report for instance if you have collections and judgements but have a good paid auto in the past they will approve you one of my banks chase custom subprime will buy any customer of mine that has a good paid auto loan i have customers with 400 scores driving vehciles now you will pay higher interest im not going to lie about that but if you need a car pay it for maybe 2 years then your score will go up as long as you pay everybody else as well to then you can trade the vehicle and get a lower rate .also alot of the franchise dealers banks eg;ford credit ,chrylser financial will buy lower scores because they need to help their dealers move cars and they will buy deals they wouldnt normally buy so try them first ford chrylser etc etc i bet they will get you approved as long as you have a stable job and decent income anywhere from $ 2200 a month onwards but even so the finance manager will know how to be lets say creative on your application he or she submits to his banks ..hope this helps
