Hello. I am 22 years old and work a full time job and go to college part time (two courses). I only have about 30 credit hours so far. My job is very stressful and I work 40-42 hours per week. I work with Brides and other event planners at a store that makes invitations and party accessories. I desperately want to quit and go to school full time. I can’t really work part time at my store as the position requires a full time person. I make $ 15 an hour so around $ 2000 a month after taxes. I’m scared though that I won’t be able to get enough financial aid to support myself. I am independent and receive no help from my parents (besides the occasional big bill like a car repair or emergency). I have tried working as a waitress last year when I quit my job I’m at now and it was the worst. I hated the environment, late hours and the unstable income…But then again maybe it was the wrong place (Hooters :)….Because I hear stories all the time of people that only work 3 days a week somewhere and make just as much as I do now! I just don’t know what to do and I have to make decisions fast as I this is my last semester taking online courses. I live in Houston if that helps. Has anyone else been in this situation? I also get money for student loans now from Fafsa, but its not very much at all.
