Article Score0

Since the beginning of this year, I have faithfull paid every bill on time and some I have paid above the min amount, on or before the due date.
I currently have a new car loan, since May, 3 credit cards, 2 with a balance and a paid off one. No mortgage, home paid for. I have to admit that what bought my score down was due to myself and failure to pay on a timely manner.

4 Thoughts on How long does it take to build up your credit score. I started this year with a embarrassing score of 571.?

It depends greatly on a few things. First, how many accoutns do you have? Good payments on 2 accounts is not as good as good payments on 3 credit cards, a car loan and a mortgage.

Second, is your score low becuase you have ‘new’ credit or becuase you have recent late pays?

Have you paid down your once high balances to below 40%?

Your score can rise as much as 100+ points over a year by fixing things and such…. but it greatly depends on a LOT of factors.

    Whynot check your score again?

It takes about a good 6 months to build good credit scores. You will build your credit score faster if you pay the credit cards and loans on a bi-weekly basis. Remember to only charge the cards up to the 35% threshold and nothing more.

Credit card companies SHOULD sent in a report every month, but most of them don’t. Your credit report should reflect a new score every 90 days, but it can happen sooner if you call all your credits and ask the to send an up to date report to the agencies.
