I would like to know how long it takes for your credit to come up. I just did a report and it said very low =( I paid off a whole bunch of debt a month ago and thought it might be a bit higher. Also, I had a debt of $ 800 from an old apartment. My roomate trashed it. I don’t want to pay the whole thing, its not fair. We were both on the lease. She wont pay her half. I paid mine, but it is still showing a $ 400 debt on my credit report. How can I fix it? And when and how can my credit score go up? Thanks..

    its a long process.
I used to work for a credit card company, and the best way to improve your score is not pulling it up for a while. Also, maintaining a good credit standing with your credit cards,or if you dont have one, by getting a secured card which you can maintain with regular payments, is the fastest way to improve it, since credit cards are the usual reporters of credit rating.
If your having problems with your old lease, best try to sort it out with the property owner so that the debt can be removed. you can also call the credit rating agency for the correction.
    Good luck!

I would first start by getting copies of your credit reports and then paying off the items that are negative, late etc. As far as the roomate issue….how about paying it and suing her for her half. In court I believe you can just say that you wanted to save your credit but she owes you the money. Or you can just never deal w/ her again and pay it off and still improve your credit. As you take care of things your score will go up every month once it is updated. It can range from 30 – 75 points.
