Article Score0

When I was around 13 or 14, I owed the public library around $ 400 in fees and lost books. I never paid them. Though I heard that your credit doesn’t start getting effected until you turn 18, is this true? I also owe around $ 150 in hospital bills from 2 years ago, after 18.

5 Thoughts on How can I check my credit score for free? And how bad do you think my score would be based on…?

You can get your credit report for free once a year from all three credit agentcies. The library fines should not be on there, but hospital bills might.
Here is were I got mine, and they are free!
Be careful because other places say free and are not.

Do you have any other credit? Because you typically need 3 pieces to calculate a score so I’m guessing it’ll be 630 and below or no score at all.

I would go to because you can get all 3 of your credit scores plus a credit report. It’s a 7 day free trial so I would cancel it right away unless you want to pay to monitor it every month.

Oh, also, it isn’t true that your credit won’t be affected until you’re 18. I had a phone charge off on mine since I was 16 that just dropped last year. I told them that I had never done business with them and that I was a minor when it started getting reported but that didn’t matter.

You cannot check your credit SCORE for free. You can check your credit REPORT for free once per year at, which is the ONLY site where it is free.

The last person is correct, you cannot get your credit score for free, you can get your credit report for free. The report will not give a number, but will tell you any items that have been reported which would give you an idea of how your score might be affected. The only place to actually get your score is and this costs about $ 16 for each report. You can only purchase from 2 of the 3 unions now. If you really want to know the score you can check one, there are usually codes that will give you 20% off the price. If it is lower than what you would like you can take steps to increase it, the website gives several tips and then six months later check your other score to see if it has increased. You can get your score from each union once a year without effecting the score so it is a good idea to stagger them to see how it changes. Hope that helps!
