I recently purchased a home from HUD, durig closing nothing was said about HOA fees but after I talked with nieghbors they told me there was a 156 dollar a year HOA fee. They dont keep up on anything and started a second development before finishing this one. half the division is streets without homes.
IS there a way to get out of paying HOA fees?

Check your loan docs. It’s in there. If it;’s in your docs, you can’t get out of paying. That said, $ 156 a year is so ridiculously small it’s likely not worth fighting over.

How you bought the home has no relevance. Your real estate agent should have written into your offer that you had to review the HOA guidelines and agree with them as a contingency. That your agent failed to do this doesn’t mean that you get out of paying the fees.

If you don’t think that it’s worth the fees, then get a group of people together to try and reduce them.

The HOA runs with the deed. You pay them or they seize the condo and evict you.

There is no way to avoid paying them and keep the condo.

A lawyer can not alter the deed.

All condos have a HOA, what you feel entitled to, living there and not paying for it, isn’t going to happen.

I’d just get with the neighbors n try n fight it, especially since they don’t really maintain the vacant lots in the subdivision.
And the comment about Condo’s, Condo is code for apartment! Why anyone would buy an apartment is beyond me, what a waste of money!
