I am renting a house and while i was at work the hose to the washing machine broke and completely flooded the house. The house is pretty bad but none of my belongings are ruined. I was wondering if i am at all responsible for the damage. From what i understand, renters insurance is only to cover my belongings and the homeowners insurance should cover all of the damages to the house. My landlord keeps asking if i have renters insuranece, and i dont, but that only covers my belongings, right? Therefore, it shouldn’t matter if i do or don’t because the homeowners insurance will fix the damages. And she told me that the homeowners insurance has a $ 1,000.00 deductible. Am i responsible for that too?
      It was my washer
