I’m on a debt consolidation program. It’s a different type of program which uses settlements. I’m not supposed to pay my debts until they charge off and then the consolidation company negotiates with the collection agency. I disclosed this to both my National Guard recruiter and the people at MEPS, they said it should be fine. I’m just concerned because the MOS I chose (25U) requires “secret” security clearance, and I don’t want to be denied the clearance when I get to AIT. Any Military personnel have experience with this?
I used the program because I was getting nowhere on my debts, not necessarily because I was irresponsible. I wanted to pay them off.
