Any company that claims to repair your credit is a rip-off. I’ve been in the mortgage industry for years and I’ve worked with a lot of credit repair companies. Don’t do it.

The only thing you can do is:

    1. Make sure your credit report is accurate. Get a free copy at http://annualcreditreport.com and review it carefully. Dispute EVERYTHING that is inaccurate.

    2. Pay your bills on time.

    3. Start paying off any charge-offs/collections. Usually the collection company will settle for less than the full amount. Start with the lowest one and work your way up.

    Good luck.

you really need to buy all three credit reports and find out all the wrong infromation and start disputing. but there is so much to learn read read and read then start asking question that you cant find the awsers to. there are other websites but this is the best that i have found so far.

There are legitimate credit counseling services which can help you build good habits and eventually earn the right to get new credit. In time, if you handle that credit properly, you will get a good credit record. There are non-legitimate companies which claim to “repair” your credit for a fee. Can’t be done, and is illegal. It took you awhile to get in this bind, and it will take you awhile to fix your problem.

By having utilities in your name and paying for them in a very timely manner you are rebuilding credit. Paying your rent on time is also a way to rebuild, keep your rental receipts showing that you paid on time. Do NOT try to get a credit card! For each time you have a credit check run it reduces your credit rating! If you had your car repo’d may I suggest a buy here pay here- again keep your receipts. By the car with the cheapest payments on the lot- but one that doesn’t require hundreds of dollars in repairs also! get it checked by an outside mechanic- it’s worth the money! Do NOT pay off the car early! Early payment does not increase credit scores!
    Best of luck to you!

HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN SINCE YOU HAVE FILLED BANKRUPCY? I THINK THAT REALLY MATTERS. I WOULD TRY TO GET A LOW CREDIT IN A STORE AND WORKING YOUR WAY UP. JUST HAVE THE 1 CREDIT CARD AND PAY THE BALANCE OFF EVERY MONTH THAT IS ALWAYS GOOD

Wow. The best ‘service’ for you is…YOU. Time will also be your friend if you pay things on time. I agree with the above posters, pay your bills on time. If you can’t pay something, make sure to TALK to your debtors! That really really helps.

    1. Pay off what you’re supposed to, on time.

    2. Open a ‘passbook savings’ account at your bank (if they offer it) and make automatic, biweekly installments.

    3. DO NOT WORRY. Seriously. You have a life to live, do not let your self esteem be measured by your FICO score! I know it’s easier said than done, but I’ve been behind the 8-ball too and know what it feels like.

    4. Give. I started my credit repair by going back to my church and tithing when I could. Only when I felt I could, because I know that God loves a CHEERFUL giver, not one who JUST does it legalistically.

    Best of luck!

a bankruptcy is on your credit report 10 years. Be sure you pay all your bills on time, and if you need a credit card then get a collateralized visa for emergencies only. If you have several years of good work history and decent income to pay all your new bills and for the car, car insurance, tags, gas, because of your bankruptcy you could probably run right out and buy a new car though.
