If i’m understanding correctly. If I take my spouse off my account. Then they must stop their attempts to collect from my account.

2 Thoughts on Can debt collectors take money out of my checking account for a judgment against my spouse?

On such an important question wouldn’t it be best to ask the bank?

Or to be safe close the joint account and open a new one in your own name.

you are correct, but it is best and easist to just get a new account; even better if you go to a new bank. I have heard too many horror stories about accounts being attached even though the judgement was not against any actual party to the account. getting someone off an account officially and permanently can be a damn nightmare. The databases sometimes just dont get corrected.
