Hi all, I recently bought a house from a family of 12.They are a dirty bunch of people.Seriously dirty as in furniture like junk all over the house and food spills etc.We bought the house because we liked the location and the size. Now it would only be me and my husband living there as we have no kids yet. After the moved out we saw roaches everywhere. We renovated the whole house made.Ripped out the cabinets, renovated the kitchen, toilet, plastered and painted etc until it became as good as new.I did not see any roaches until two days back I saw this big fat one in the storeroom.I have this great phobia of roaches( Im in early twenties) and I got my hubbby to hit it.I feel so disturbed after seeing that horrible thing.I would be moving in in two days time. How to bring myself to hit those ugly things?I dun wanna mess up by using a spray as they start running around after being sprayed.I can’t bring myself to whack them.I have taken preventive measure to seal up the holes in the house such as the drainage holes but I want to be able to whack them without fear.Any ideas?

i didn’t read all that but the best way to prevent roaches is not give them access to any food.

    just be clean.

don’t leave dirty dishes out, dont leave food out, get a trash can that closes so they cant get in it, etc.

Boric acid powder mixed with a small amount of powdered sugar works pretty well.

move to Oregon, we never have roaches here. No humidity, either.

Roach motels, glue traps, in corners and on shelfs.

Boric acid powder in between and behind things in the kitchen and under sinks.

Put all your food in containers.

If any come back, you are prepared.
