I was out in the southwest and noticed that a lot of the homes in the desert use fabric as a canopy above the home, presumably to reduce cooling costs. I live in Florida, and I’d really like to try that. I’m finding a big variety of materials on the internet, so any advice on what to buy and how to set it up, would be much appreciated. It’s a big investment, so I want to have a noticeable difference in cooling my home. Thanks

Typically the cloth is used as a cover or sides for a patio or carport rather than cover for a house.
It works very well in the desert especially combined with a misting system but in humid Florida? Check around your area to see if it is used. Go to Home Depot or Lowe’s and discuss your plan..
