I went to a “free” seminar in Phoenix tonight hosted by Real Talk Network about paying off debt. The two hour seminar was basically a bunch of teasers on how you can pay off your consumer debt and mortgages on a hyper accelerated schedule and be debt free in months or years. At the very end they ask for $ 1997.00 to get started. This would include lifetime coaching and all their secrets to eliminate debt. I declined to enroll because I wasn’t willing to pay that amount of money without looking into them. After I got home, I looked at their schedule online and saw they had no more sessions scheduled in the area in the near future. Is this a scam or is it legit?

We have mortgage salespeople who aren’t working mortgages due to what’s going on in the economy. We are looking to convert them to unsecured debt consolidation programs, but aren’t looking to do the heavy lifting involved with settling this debt, but rather are looking for some reputable companies who handle all the back end, and [...]

I am just wondering how the rest of the ends get tied up if I have to sell my house for less then I owe? I have to sell my house because renting it out would cost a lot in property management and higher insurance rate due to a pool. So if I sell the [...]

I collected approximately $ 800k in settlements on rental properties damaged by natural disaster. Outstanding mortgages were about $ 400k. Is the remaining 400k taxable, and at what rate? Did not fix the properties up, decided to sell them instead.
