DId this happen to anyone else?? FNBO/Sterling CLOSES credit card acct
I am curious if anyone else had a credit card acct with FNBO/Sterling Bank that was closed with NO warning, whatsoever?!?! I have had a credit card with them for 13 years, in PERFECT standing, and they closed my (and others) account. Also, I am wondering how this will effect my credit rating as it is the longest revolving acct I have/had (my others are only 7yrs old). I am sure I have no recourse with FNBO but I am appalled that they would treat a valued customer in this way. Since I am beyond furious at this moment I will refrain from saying what I wish happens to FNBO!

Upset with HSBC
I'm quite upset at HSBC at the moment! My wife and I have a joint HSBC Platinum card that was reporting a $ 30 balance ($ 800 CL) across all three credit bureaus. Anyways my wife charged $109 on Thursday and was going to pay it off next week well before the end of the month when HSBC reports or so we thought. Unfortunately, we were wrong in thinking that because when we pulled updated reports we noticed that HSBC had reported the card's balance early and now it was showing a balance of $139 as a result our scores dropped by 20 points :smileymad: Then if that wasn't bad enough, I noticed. Account information disputed by consumer, meets FCRA requirements I have no idea where this came from, this is a good account will no negative information and we have no reason to dispute. The problem is that we have a pending mortgage application and with this now on our reports I'm not sure we will be approved until it gets straightened out. When it rains it pours

Prime cards? Suggestions?
Hi, I'm looking for a little help in selecting a card to apply for. I was recently approved for a AMEX gold, but don't have any open Visa or MC. I would like to stay away from BoA and Chase, as my wife has some sketchy history with both where I was an AU for a short time. Which cards are considered prime cards? I am most interested in low APR, as I really won't be using the card for anything other than to build my scores for the time being. Not sure what my exact scores are at the moment, but when I was approved for the AMEX my util was 49%, and I've since paid it down to 6%. I have no late payments on my report, my AAoA is 5.3 years, oldest acct is 10.7 years, no CO or Collections. So I'm assuming any card with similar requirements as AMEX should be ok?? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Shane Co, Kay Jewelers, Jared, etc… credit requirements?
It's getting closer and closer to the time for me to buy an engagement ring. I have been putting it off for a while saying things like "as soon as I've paid off my debt I'll do it" or "I don't want to go further into debt" etc. Now that I have everything paid off and we've looked at rings it has me thinking about financing. I'm looking at somewhere in the neighborhood of a $2500-$4000 purchase price and I have over $1500 to put down on it at the moment (should have another $1500 within a month or two). It looks like Shane Co uses Wells Fargo but I'm not sure who some of the big name jewelers use. With 3 CO's on my credit report (which should all be reporting $0 balances any day now) and no other tradelines at the moment do I have a snowballs chance in you know where on getting an approval anywhere? Has anyone in the high 500's or low 600's had any luck recently? I can't find any recent threads with much information. I mentioned in another thread that my CU has a credit builder loan of up to $1500 and you repay the money into a savings account which you have access to after 12 months so that is yet another option as I don't need that $1500 for anything at all, just the FICO building that comes along with it.

What kind of ding should I expect?
Current score 751. Applied for and received Amex green and Discover More cards (unknown limits at the moment). What kind of hit might my score take? Any way of knowing?

Any recent successes with Costco Amex or Discover More CLIs?
My Costco Amex and my Discover More are both stuck at a $2,000 limit like glue. I read of automatic CLIs for others, but this never happened with my cards. I'm pondering whether I should just try my luck and press the button on the Amex site and hope for no hard inquiry. I heard the Discover process goes via telephone (hard or soft, I don't know). I'll have to wait a bit in any case, as I somehow managed to let all my cards report balances this month, but I can rectify that for next month. Anyway, how is the climate at the moment? Do these CLI requests go through, or do you still risk getting your card closed when you press that button?
