My joy was sadly short lived. The Magic Jack not so Magical!
First the Good News! Installation takes seconds, download of software a minute or two, fill out a few questions, and up pops up your phone number, with the area code matching where you live. A Magic Jack ICON appears on your screen, and can be used to store numbers and make calls if you wish instead of from the telephone. All calls made were as clear as a bell on both ends. In the case of the Magic Jack being too big to plug into the USB port, they provide a extension cord to simplify the insertion of the USB plug. Now the Bad News! I used the Magic Jack on a 18 month old DELL home computer, being protected by MicroSoft Firewall, and MacAffee. At no time during the 18 months of operation was any of my files contaminated. By the 3rd day of installing Magic Jack, messages were popping uo "I am in the process of DYING"! 20 viruses were being detected, which were so bad I could not do what I am doing right now, this site would not allow me access. From what I can tell since I am not a computer literate, the only virus I did not have was the E Boli type. Not having a clue what to do, I unplug the Magic Jack first. Knowing full well that was the source of my trouble. Go to the control panel and reset the computer to where it was 6 days before I installed it. Magic Jack ICON gone, and so was the contamination. I cannot offer a explanation as to why the protection is gone when the Magic Jack is plugged in. In the MicroSoft chat room, I was informed MicroSoft does not support The Magic Jack.

HTC TOUCH PRO 2 and BLUETOOTH TETHERING
Thanks au, I have the TP2 and could not figure out why I could not use Bluetooth tethering and Verizon Tech support said it is not supported on my phone. I figured it out with your help. Bluetooth tethering is not supported with Microsoft Active Sync which now only works with 98,2000,ME and XP. You need Vista or Windows 7 and Windows Mobile Device Center. You do need to install WMDC first to install the drivers connect with USB and configure WMDC, then install VZW Access Manager for your device. More info at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/default.mspx

Computer question…
Okay, so I had a system recovery done on my computer a while back and it is working marvelously. Except for one thing...I put in one of my flashdrives that contains some documents that I made with Word Perfect. I tried to open one of them and I got a message saying that Windows can't open the file. It is a WPD file. I've looked online to find a solution, but everything that says it will fix files so I can open them wants me to purchase something. It's very frustrating!!! Since I had the system recovery done I no longer have Word Perfect. Now I have Microsoft Office Word. I guess that won't my files. Any suggestions about how to fix this?

Windows 7. NEW APPS !!!.
Though I'm not the big Tech person out there like a few of you on this forum, I can get around my OM 2 pretty good and have relied on this forum and you techies for help from time to time which I thank you. But I wonder on the next OS that's coming out WM 7 if its going to make us learn all again. I don't mind exercising the old grey matter but come on Microsoft quit with the updates and the new and improved OS. Verizon and Microsoft have been yoyoing us along with the windows 5,6 and 6.5 and now 7. No wonder iphone does so well, they just keep improving on the same phone with the same OS., thus nobody has to relearn again. Not that I'd want the iPhone,, just to many draw backs for me. Besides that I like my OM 2 Hopefully Microsoft has figured out that they can't do the same thing that they've done with the PC OS over the years....every three years its a new Windows. They've lost to much market share with the cell phone upgrades to keep just making a new windows off they old windows. Maybe starting fresh and staying with the SAME OS they can start to gain it back. The biggest gripe that I've got against Verizon and Microsoft is the stinking apps. Yeah there's tons of them out, and you have to look all over for them, but finding one that works is a real pain. Weather you have a Imagio, OM-2 or a Droid it seams that any given site that you go to you have to read the reviews to see if it works on your phone or try the trial version, and even then there's no guarantee that it will work on your phone. I think in the last two weeks I've tried at least 18 different apps that are supposed to work on the OM-2 and low and behold NOT...or they just partially work. I would think that when a OS is put on a phone a particular app that is designed for that OS i.e.Windows 6.5 it would work. Its not only the Mfg. that limit the OS but its the provider, i.e. Verizon, Sprint ,etc that sets up certain criteria for the OS. I truly hope that this is the last OS that Microsoft puts out for awhile. And along with that I hope that the apps are designed and are some what regulated to operate on all phones with the WM 7. Not everyone likes there neighbors phone nor does a particular phone work well with me that might work well for some one else, but the apps should work WELL for all phones that have the WM 7.. Microsoft has said bluntly that no old phones will be upgradeable to WM 7, they have dictated that all new phones will have certain hardware requirements...So why can't they have the same requirements when it comes to apps. All phones will be required to accept all apps that are WM 7 approved.Pretty simple. Heck even Verizon app page is limited only to certain phones when it comes to downloading apps. Most all the apps that are there on the new My Verizon page won't go on the OM 2. Just think of it..a carrier that has a couple three good smart phones that had thousands of apps the business they could do. AT&T came close, the only thing that they have is one good phone (iPhone) with a few thousand apps, but in the toilet service. Again that's why iphone is so popular, when a app is designed for it (the phone) it usually works. You don't have to worry what type of phone you have or what carrier you have...it just works. The OS wasn't put on a few hundred different phones. I didn't figure on spending this kind of money on this phone to fine out that only 30% of the apps out there work,,could be more. Don't have the time to try them all...no one does. I don't plan on buying any phone with WM 7 for some time, as with any item that is the first out there, I let some one else be the first to buy along with the first to find out all the problems that it has. Usally a year before I buy. Well that's my 2 cents worth.
Om -2 Primary email account
Just Got done syncing a bunch of contacts through Windows live and the phone also syncs through Microsoft My Phone. Even though I've got three different email accounts I've always had my primary on or (Business account) come in on my Yahoo. Use my other accounts for personal and don't need all the junk coming into phone. Now when I see that I have email its going to my Windows Live account (Hotmail), I've done everything that I know to change it back to Yahoo. I've tried to change the settings and have gone into menu and change to Yahoo but it keeps going to Windows Live ( Hot mail account) . (I still get Yahoo mail if I manually check that account) I don't want to go to any other email account not unless I check it. . How do I force the phone to stay and check only my Yahoo account.

6.5 upgrade to WM 7
6.5 upgrade to WM 7, "NOT" Doesn't look like anyone that has WM 6.5 is going to be able to upgrade to WM 7 when it comes out. Have been reading numerous articles that describe how Microsoft has mandated certain hardware requirements on the new Smartphones in able to run WM 7. These will mean that you won't be able to upgrade. I've also read that many software app designers are holding off any new efforts in app software for WM 6.5 until WM 7 comes out...This is really disappointing. Just means another upgrade for all of us who just bought into WM 6.5,,makes a person want to jump ship and get Android operating system phone.

HTC TP2 No easy way to back up contacts!
Ok, I recently upgraded from my Samgung Glyde (which was a mediocre phone) to my HTC Touch pro 2...a much much nicer phone. On my GLyde, I could automatically back up my contacts on verizons online back-up assistant...No such luck with the HTC TP2. You need to connect your phone to your computer AND you need to have Microsoft office with Outllook, which i did not have because Windows 7 does not come with it! I certainly did not wanna pay for 3rd party software to do what should be a simple process (that was the suggestion of the verizon customer service), they suck!

Syncing My Q Phone?
I have a Motorola Q Phone that is about 4 years old. I had it syncing properly with my Microsoft Outlook but starting having a lot of trouble with that software application so I switched to a Gmail account where I store my Contacts and Calendar. I don't have the Web on my phone because I don't need it but I think that may be where the problem lies. I think you may need the Web activated in order to get it to sync. Any feedback?

Omnia 2 syncing with my computer picture folders
this is driving me crazy. How can I stop, via Active Sync, the Omia 2 from syncing all my computer photos to my storage card on my phone. Suddenly when I go to download new photos via active sync I'll have 1,000's of 'new' photos on my storage card ready to be downloaded to my computer. It is a visious circle. I've thought I'd figured it out, but I guess not. I am constantly deleting them, only to click out and then click back into the photo folder in my card and there are more! Different ones. It seems to be syncing and adding them as I'm deleting. I've tried changing the folder name too, but another one will be added. It makes it difficult to download the newest. It is like out of the twighlight zone! I have Vista Dell PC, and use the Microsoft Active sync. Thanks in advance. --------- This is what I thought it was, but alas, it is still adding pictures: O.k. how to really fix this... really freaky when all the pictures , thousands, would end up on my phone. Again and again, after I'd delete on my phone and on the My phone site. I'd gone into the Windows Mobile Center on my computer , and made sure the folders box was unchecked, yet they'd appear again and again. It turns out, when I explored at the my phone website, that you have to go into My Phone on your phone, open that, go to sync options and there are tons of options, them all clicked by default! pictures , documents, favorites, videos! Man, that can certainly quickly fill up your storage card! Just something to be aware of so you too don't have "twilight zone" moments.
