Internet

I am due for an upgrade on 4/18/2010, and I have been looking for phones that are HTML/ MP3 capable. I don’t mind needing a Data Plan , as I would be needing Unlimited Data for the phone I choose. I would prefer a phone  that can handle accidental dings and drops well. I am a person who is pretty techno savvy, but I would prefer to not need a programmers degree to use my phone.   A few of the Smartphones that  have caught my eye – Blackberry Curve 8530, Blackberry Storm 2 , Blackberry Tour 9630, Motorola Droid, as well as the Motorola Devour.  I don’t mind touch screens, but I was curious if they take a beating, if they have too much of a learning curve, have slight soft wear issues, play MP3’s with decent sound if head phones are used,  have decent reception in rural areas, the internet browser has few issues, the alarms are easy to use, and you can use ringtones that you wish to make yourself. Ideally I would prefer to pay less than $150 for a phone, but I assume that a few of the phones I’m looking at will have pretty good deals. Thank you all for your suggestions!

I was looking for an email that I had sent and realized, none of my sent emails have been saved in either of the sent folders or the outbox folder.  The settings are checked to save copies in the sent folder.  Has anyone else experienced this and if so, is there some other setting that I have to change?  I also see the folders that I’ve created in the past, but there’s nothing in the folders, on my phone, only viewable with a computer.   While we’re on the subject of this device, does anyone else receive frequent “glitches”?  I can imagine that with a phone that has so many applications available, it’s nearly impossible for it not to freeze once in a while, but it can be pretty annoying.  I also assumed that the internet would be easier/faster with a phone like this, but I was wrong.  The layout is a lot better though.

I’ve had a Juniper cc for about 4 years with a 9.9% APR and no lates ever, always paying more than the minimum. We recently purchased our first home and i knew our internet would be out for a bit during the move so i set up prepayments for November on all my cards. Long story short, the payment didn’t go through for this card (i think i accidentally cancelled it) and i didn’t notice until a day after it was due (got an alert). I called and made the payment but it was considered late anyway and they raised my rate to 30% last month. The card is almost maxed out right now but I’m paying it off entirely when our tax refund arrives.   What would be the best way to handle this situation? Call them now with 90% utilization and ask for the rate to be lowered on the grounds i’ve had the card several years, never been late, and was less than 24 hours late because of a computer error? I was thinking it would be better to pay it off next month, then call and ask but i’m not sure if the new cc laws will change things. I’d appreciate any advice! :)

hello….I have been looking and reading through these posts a lot this is the first time Ive posted   basically i have a young clear credit record:   1 secured card through wells fargo w/2500 limit – i never made a late payment.. and they still have never graduated me… 1 student loan through wells fargo and 1 through Sallie mae…. about 7K total and growing   my habits: im 25, a student in berkely ca… my wife and only make around 25000 combined… we have never paid interest or made any late payments… i have 1 or less inquiries on my credit files in the last year… I LOVE to collect reward points (Im a student…I like free stuff)… no house or car, or medical debt i just pulled my EQ and TU FICOs: (649 and 770)   so heres the questions:   1) why such a difference? more than 120 points… both are true FICOs – EQ shows revolv balance at 92%  TU shows it at 22% — card is paid in full at the moment… generally paid in full every month… i just use it for everything to collect the points…   2)I just applied for a United Miliage Plus from chase a few days ago… i dont really want anything from chase and i dont need the credit (Ive always been with wells fargo, and have always loved it)… but i want the miles from united… really 30000 miles will put me almost at enough miles to get a free round the world ticket… Its a Visa Signature….what ever that means…. I was not approved over the internet… they said they would send me a letter… On my TU report I see any inq from First Usa Na on 2/14/2010  is this chase? If not should I be worried, I never heard of a first usa na… also any idea on my chances getting approved, if it is chase they they would have pulled the 770, which is better then the 649… will my income/student loans hurt me? like i said i could care less what the limit is… i just want the miles…   3) also would it help my scores to bump up my limit to 5K on the wells fargo card… I have a few grand  that I could put on that card if it will help my score…   Thanks noah

I’ve read in some places over Internet that WF’s Visa Signature charges no foreign currency transaction fee. Is this true? If so, how can I get it? I can’t see any link in the Wells Fargo website. I have a card with them already, would it be easy to upgrade?   I am planning to go out of the country soon and would love to use a CC instead of bring cash/travelers checks with me but my two card charge 2 % fee, though, I am not feeling like applying for another card in another bank right now.   Thanks

Because there seems to be so much misinformation and downright confusion about the Credit CARD Act of 2009 (and that’s just among the lenders!), I thought I’d post a link here, plus summaries by the Congressional Research Service, part of the Library of Congress. The original act has a tacked-on correction (see below) specifying that it was credit card accounts that were affected by one aspect (the timely notice of new statements

The background color in my email is black and since most folks use a black text color, I can’t read those emails…only can read emails from folks who use a color other than black. Is there a way to change the black background to white, as is usual in PC email programs? Thanks for any help. If it matters, my Internet provider is AOL. The email background on my computers is white but black on my phone.

Last night I read somewhere on the internet that Capital One reports all cards as using 100% of available credit so you can’t get credit anywhere else. This doesn’t sound right, has anyone experienced this?

Verizon is all business at the expense of their customers.   I have been with VZ for many years. Now that I’m looking for another smartphone, it seems that to activate this new device I”M FORCED to have one of their $29.95 or higher data plans. I think it’s unfair to charge so much for their crappy service and then have to be forced to take the data plan or else.   I think this sucks, VZ has a pay as you go plan now and thats what I have, because I don’t surf the Internet on my phone.   I feel so strongly about this that I will probably take my business elsewhere, now you say everybody does this, well I can buy an unlimited voice, data, messaging and data for $69.99 a month.  I just wanted to give verizon a chance.   I’d like to see, millions of people email verizon with their displeasure over this decision, in addition to their crazy early termination fee. Once they start loosing customers they may decide to come around.
