Well, the husband of my father’s co-worker went to a Packers game with him… I guess my dad spilled out how disorganized, chaotic, and quite disappointing my life is right now. How I’ve applied to 16 jobs, literally, only 6 interviews, and still nothing. I’m not ready for college yet because of many serious struggles I’ve been at war with. (Though, I’m deferred till this spring or next fall for my Tech College), and I’ve been basically living a life at home. A useless, anti-social, no friends, pathetic piece of crap. Besides being a maid… Cleaning the house, literally, at least for 6 hours a day, to contribute somehow. Being, I’m almost 19, no job, and I’ve been making many mistakes… And don’t have my license yet, it’s my pointless life I’ve been living the past 4 months.

Sorry, just giving you the pre-load of the story. SO, his friend called me, at least the little bit I understood (not sure what ethnicity he is but he has a BIG accent.) Well, he really wants me to work for him. I hardly know him, (he did come to my graduation party) so I’m very scared about the awkwardness. Even with no prior job experiences in a lab, he is insistent in me coming.

THE JOB:
He works at a company called Soil Net. His lab is in Belleville, WI.

All he told me was to wear pants and tennis shoes (I assume shoes that cover your feet for lab work and safety) Then I told him I gained so much weight I don’t have pants that fit me and asked if I could wear sweat pants. 0_o I felt overly embarrassed asking but he was so kind about it. OF COURSE, I’m not going to wear f’ing sweat pants, so I went out and bought some nice formal yet, could be worn as everyday comfy pants. *** Would I really be doing lab work the first day? Anyway, he didn’t really tell me what I was going to be doing. He said I’m going to learn a lot and it will be fun… Blah blah. He is VERY laid back and has a care free spirit.

*** My question, for those of you had this “first day lab assistant job” experience, or not, what should I be prepared for, what should I expect? *** As a girl, should I wear my hair up? *** Can I still wear a bit of make up? *** Is it okay for me to wear moccasins (they cover my feet completely, fit perfect, and, comfortable) instead of tennis shoes? Tennys would SURELY look silly with the formalish black pants I’m going to be wearing. (Unless you’re Gregory House (House M.D. TV show), one in a million can pull that look off lol)

I basically got this job over a phone call, no interview, because he knows my dad so well. But I HARDLY know him. He is more than happy to pick me up, until my drivers test in a month. It’s 30 mins away.

I’m extremely scared and anxious. The fact that I haven’t had prior job experiences in a lab or any sort, besides adv. bio in high school, this is a one in a lifetime opp! I need to get good sleep tonight to get up early! *** Please, anyone out there, I need some, advice, prep tips, how to look… etc? So I can sleep soundly tonight. I want to impress him. I want to be prepared. Have some knowledge ahead of time of what I’m to do.
