I have been trying to get into the military for awhile now. I was waiting on a waiver that finally cleared. Next is MEPS and job selection and all that fun stuff. I need help picking a MOSI seem to have a broad range of interest and am not sure whict to pursue. I’d like to know some opinions from people in the military. My brother is in and in Iraq right now, he’s 24 and works Intel – so, I know what he does, pretty much.

A little background info: First off I’ll be turing 35 in December about the time I ship out for basic training. I’ve been to college, have an AA degree and about 100 total college credits. Did ok on the ASVAB… scored an 89 and all the line scores were over 128; which I was told was good enough for most jobs in the Army. I’ve been practicing the PT test of running, push ups, and sit ups. I can do enough in the alloted timeframe to reach the maximums for the test. So, I have old bones… but the legs still work, I’m above average strength for my age and feel very physically fit and for the most part I’m injury free and never go to the doctors. about the only physical problem I know of is an alergic reaction to eating shrimp. I’va always had quite a dynamic interest when it comes to jobs and I’ve had many: construction, carpentry, masonry, landscaping, industrial technician jobs, cable and wiring, telephone repair & instalation, texas hold em dealer, trainer at a gym, lots of handyman and electrical work. Studied Criminal Justice in college and I’ve worked about 30 diffrent jobs in my time and get bored easily: but, seem to learn them all very fast and excel in them until I move on to the next challenge. I was an athlete growing up in sports such as wrestling, football, baseball, running… etc etc.

I’m 5′ 10″
170 lbs
35 years old (although looking at me, you’d guess about 20-25… I just have one of those faces you don’t want because you never look your age)

Job possibilities: Combat — 11b infantry (my recruiter thinks I should go Airborne or Ranger if I can get it), 13f fire support specialist, 19d calvary scout, 19k tank crewman, 68w combat medic (my recruiter seems to think I’m fit for combat and disregards my age… he’s a Ranger and seems to have confidence in me and says I’m in better shape than him… he’s only 25 so he doesn’t know what it feels like to be 35 yet – things may still work but, not like they use to.

non-combat… which wouldn’t be my first choice but considering my age I may have to look this way either now or sometime in the future, if and when time catches up with me and the wheels are shot. All kind of different interests here: I’ve seen a lot of cool mechanics jobs, even 88l watercraft engineer seemed rather interesting, 35f intelligence (may be a little boring for an active person like myself), technical engineering specialist…. not sure of the MOS numbers but also saw some cool computer jobs, electronics, electrical, and IT type of jobs. If I was to pursue any type of elctrical job – which would be the best… I understand this area very well and what might transfer well into the civilian population.

Thanks for taking the time to read and thanks for any replies or information you may have. This is somrthign I’ve always wanted to do and now is the right time for me, so i’m prety excited about becomming a member of the military like my grandfather, father and brother before me.

Thanks!
Again, sorry so long… didn’t realize how long this was until I hit submit.

In short – what is your opinion for a good MOS in the Army that I should pursue. I’m looking for opinions.
Why would I be too old for Airborne or Rangers? My recruiter which is a Ranger suggests this MOS for me. I did 102 pushups in his office and ran a 5:02 mile time for him to show him what kind of shape i was in. As far as the mental toughness – they don’t get any tougher than me. That’s my strong point, not my physical skills. What would be the reason if its not physical – because physically… I hate to say it – but, I’ll be passing up the younger guys. There has to be some other reason. Because physical will actually be the easier part for me, maybe something like age difference could make sense.

Maybe not the place as in a building but rather a place inside. I was just wondering because I have never had that feeling like I just came home and everything feels warm and safe. If it has happened to you what did it feel like or how did it happen?

When I signed the contract, the closure was done within 50 days – a change was to require the signature of all parties concerned. I was never informed that the closure would not proceed as scheduled, much less asked Unterschrift.Die of my buyers have been ready in time. My broker and / or attorney responsible [...]

He promised me free health care, straight cash as part of another stimulus package, money to pay for my mortgage, money to pay for my student loans, money to pay off my credit cards…money, money, money! He promised me all these things. When is this racist going to finally deliver on all the things he [...]

he has avoided using the word recession but evidence tells us that the world economies is slowing down especially in the mortgage sector. In the UK the Northern Rock had to get an emergency loan from the bank of England and the government I believe Northern Rock has now been nationalised. Now in the States [...]
