Can I get a refinanced mortgage if i start a home business with no employees and still work my regular job?
Question by sammus: Can I get a refinanced mortgage if i start a home business with no employees and still work my regular job?
I want to refinance my mortgage and I want to start a home business before doing so. It would have no employees and I would still keep my current job. My home business will not require any due balances or credit lines to increase my debt. Would mortgage companies see the worry that I would quit my regular job or would they trust that I would maturely handle the mortgage payments? In other words, would I have no problems getting refinanced under these conditions. My credit score is about 650 and I’ve been at my current job for 1 1/2 years but have had steady employment for a long time. I have also paid my mortgage on time for 12 months.
The reason I am asking is because what I will be doing requires a vendor license. Therefore, in my ssn, it would show the business based at my home address.
I am actually looking for a new mortgage loan, not a home equity loan or personal loan and I don’t need to borrow to pay debts.

If there is no debt increases involved, then does the mortgage company really need to know about your home business? Go to http://www.businessstarterpackage.com/articles.html and check out all of the articles on this very sort of thing. You can find all you need to know there.

Re: Acquiring a business during home purchase
IMO, delay the ownership paperwork, llecs.
Set up a corporation, owned by your wife or your kids. It’s a totally separate entity. That corporation will buy the business. You are still an employee of the business, with the same salary, etc., and nothing changes for you. You can always be added on to the corporation after the mortgage closing.
As long as the income from that business is not included in your wife’s income as part of the basis for repayment of a mortgage loan, I don’t think your mortgage qualifications will change one bit.
I may be wrong, but I think this could avoid any mortgage difficulties/excessive paperwork.
Shane, could this be an alternative here?
Neckties
I was reading Nurse49 thread about dress to impress, and it brought to mind a thing about neckties. When I started out in the business world I worked for many years for a company that required suit and tie as business dress (no sport coats). I left that company after a number of years and went to work for a company that required ties (sport coats ok) I now work part time ( I'm semi retired) for a company that wouldthinks I'm nuts if I wore a tie. My question is...what is the purpose of a necktie?

CC Stable…should I complete?
Hi all, So thanks to the advice of people here (and stupid USAA- at least as far as keeping my business to themselves) I now have: USAA MC - $24k USAA Amex - $14k PenFed Visa - $9,500 (assuming nothing goes wrong and it shows up in my mailbox next week) (VS store card, AU on a few of my mother's cards) So, should I complete the group with a Discover card? I figured I can do gas on PenFed (running ~$140/mo), Cell phone on Amex (thanks to the iPhone, this is running ~$80/mo on it), and "personal fun" on the MC (running ~$100/mo)...however, I don't know what I'd put on the Discover or which one to get or whatnot... My current scores were quite high, but they might drop with this newest inq from PenFed....and I always PIF but I still want a reasonable ( $5,000) limit. Other considerations: I had 2 inq - one will be 1 yr old at the end of June, the other at the end of Sept. I will be going back to school in Aug so household income will drop (again, not a problem as far as I'm concerned but the CC companies don't see it that way) I am an AU on my mother's Discover but I don't want to count AU cards... So I'm throwing it as a vote to y'all...should I get a Discover? If so, which one? Thanks! (If I don't get one now, the next time will probably be 3-4 more years, once I'm out of school and have income again.)

Windows 7. NEW APPS !!!.
Though I'm not the big Tech person out there like a few of you on this forum, I can get around my OM 2 pretty good and have relied on this forum and you techies for help from time to time which I thank you. But I wonder on the next OS that's coming out WM 7 if its going to make us learn all again. I don't mind exercising the old grey matter but come on Microsoft quit with the updates and the new and improved OS. Verizon and Microsoft have been yoyoing us along with the windows 5,6 and 6.5 and now 7. No wonder iphone does so well, they just keep improving on the same phone with the same OS., thus nobody has to relearn again. Not that I'd want the iPhone,, just to many draw backs for me. Besides that I like my OM 2 Hopefully Microsoft has figured out that they can't do the same thing that they've done with the PC OS over the years....every three years its a new Windows. They've lost to much market share with the cell phone upgrades to keep just making a new windows off they old windows. Maybe starting fresh and staying with the SAME OS they can start to gain it back. The biggest gripe that I've got against Verizon and Microsoft is the stinking apps. Yeah there's tons of them out, and you have to look all over for them, but finding one that works is a real pain. Weather you have a Imagio, OM-2 or a Droid it seams that any given site that you go to you have to read the reviews to see if it works on your phone or try the trial version, and even then there's no guarantee that it will work on your phone. I think in the last two weeks I've tried at least 18 different apps that are supposed to work on the OM-2 and low and behold NOT...or they just partially work. I would think that when a OS is put on a phone a particular app that is designed for that OS i.e.Windows 6.5 it would work. Its not only the Mfg. that limit the OS but its the provider, i.e. Verizon, Sprint ,etc that sets up certain criteria for the OS. I truly hope that this is the last OS that Microsoft puts out for awhile. And along with that I hope that the apps are designed and are some what regulated to operate on all phones with the WM 7. Not everyone likes there neighbors phone nor does a particular phone work well with me that might work well for some one else, but the apps should work WELL for all phones that have the WM 7.. Microsoft has said bluntly that no old phones will be upgradeable to WM 7, they have dictated that all new phones will have certain hardware requirements...So why can't they have the same requirements when it comes to apps. All phones will be required to accept all apps that are WM 7 approved.Pretty simple. Heck even Verizon app page is limited only to certain phones when it comes to downloading apps. Most all the apps that are there on the new My Verizon page won't go on the OM 2. Just think of it..a carrier that has a couple three good smart phones that had thousands of apps the business they could do. AT&T came close, the only thing that they have is one good phone (iPhone) with a few thousand apps, but in the toilet service. Again that's why iphone is so popular, when a app is designed for it (the phone) it usually works. You don't have to worry what type of phone you have or what carrier you have...it just works. The OS wasn't put on a few hundred different phones. I didn't figure on spending this kind of money on this phone to fine out that only 30% of the apps out there work,,could be more. Don't have the time to try them all...no one does. I don't plan on buying any phone with WM 7 for some time, as with any item that is the first out there, I let some one else be the first to buy along with the first to find out all the problems that it has. Usally a year before I buy. Well that's my 2 cents worth.

Does Anyone Besides Me Worry About Mobile Security? Just Wondering
OK, maybe I'm paranoid, but I've got my Imagio totally locked down with a mobile security suite with a firewall, spam filters, virus checker, remote erase, the whole nine yards. I've got the phone updating the virus definitions every night automatically at 2 AM, then running a full antivirus check of the phone and microSD card every night at 3 AM. So I feel pretty secure that I'm not gonna get a virus or hacked, or if my phone gets lost I can easily brick it wherever it is, then find it via GPS. But I get the impression that very few other people even consider mobile security. To my way of thinking, my Imagio is more like a computer than a dumb phone, it holds lots of sensitive information like contacts, my business calendar and notes, banking info and passwords, all kinds of stuff I'd rather not lose. Plus it's totally open to WiFi, the 'Net and Verizon's service (a dishonest Verizon employee would NEVER hack into your phone, right?). So I go the extra step with a third-party security suite. Anyone else? I've heard folks say that phones aren't hackable, but to me that sounds like the Apple owners who say only PC owners need antivirus because their Macs are somehow "immune." Ostrich head-in-the-sand behavior to the nth degree.

When Should I Use *228 OTA Programming?
I'm posting this in case it's useful to anyone else here on the forum boards. I've been obsessively updating my Imagio weekly using *228, both the Selection-1 software updates plus the Selection-2 "roaming capabilities", not knowing how often I really need to do this. So on a whim, I just emailed Verizon tech support and got the straight dope: I wrote: This isn't an urgent question, but I was just wondering how often I need to update my phone's (HTC Imagio) software by dialing *228 Selection 1. I see on your support pages that you recommend updating the roaming capabilities via Selection 2 every three months or whenever there is a change of calling plan, but I've not been able to find your recommendations for the Selection 1 phone software updates. I try to update every week "just in case" there's a new update, but sometimes I feel like I'm wasting my time and your free airtime by doing so. Can I sign up for a text message or email alert from you whenever I need to update my software via Seletion 1, whenever you've posted a new download? Or should I just continue updating every week and hope for the best? Thanks. Good evening. I appreciate the opportunity to provide you with information regarding the frequency of your calls to *228. My name is Chauncey and I would suggest updating your software like your roaming capabilities every three months. Additionally, we do not offer any message alerts reminding you when *228 needs to be called. Thank you again for your email regarding how often you would need to call *228. I trust the information provided is accurate and resolves your concerns. We appreciate your business and thank you for being the most important part of Verizon Wireless. Sincerely, Chauncey Customer Service Verizon Wireless
