I am in the process of having a home built after many months of credit repair. This site and everyone on it has been so helpful. 

I received a alert on myfico of a new account, upon checking it was an old repo from 2008 that jefferson Capital had bought. They gave me NO notice they just put it on my credit reports,  This would kill my pre approval so I sent a DV and heard no response so I filed a complaint with the BBB and was able to have it deleted (Waiting for deletion now) judging by their BBB page they delete alot.  Here is my communication with them. 

 

 

 

Put collection on my credit reports without my knowledge and now will not validate debt. I noticed a new collection on my credit reports from Jefferson Capital for over $ 9,000.00 on 2-20-2015. I called the number and was informed that they sent me notification on 01-30-2015 which I never received (which if they did send on 01-30 they did not provide me 30 days to dispute before reporting on 02-20) I asked the woman that answered to send me verification of this debt they claim I owe (Original paperwork,itemized billing etc) She informed me all they could provide was the amount due. She said I could fax in a paper requesting the information and that they would “See what they could find” I did so and have not heard anything since. So I now have a un validated collection listed on my credit reports. When I call them all they tell me is that they can only send the total amount due and try to collect the money they claim I owe. Also the way they are reporting this on the credit reports is wrong as it is listed as a new debt not one from 7 years ago.

Desired Settlement
I am requesting that Jefferson capital remove this collection they claim I owe from all the credit reporting agencies and agree to not sell or transfer this debt that they are claiming. If in fact they did send me notice on 1-30 at the very least they did not wait the 30 days before reporting to credit agencies on 02-20. I also believe that this collection is to old to collect on.

Jefferson Capital Systems, LLC purchased Mr. ******’s ********* Consumer USA account and balance of $ 9,242.51 in August 2014. Information regarding the account, which included the right to dispute notice, was sent to Mr. ****** on December 19, 2014. In February 2015, we began reporting the account the credit bureaus.

We have no record of Mr. ****** previously contacting us concerning the account. Although we feel the debt is owed, to resolve his dispute, we have terminated further collection efforts and closed our file. We are also notifying the bureaus to delete our trade line from his credit file.
