What happens if you don’t pay your emergency room bill?

I went to the emergency room last month because I was having really really bad stomach pains and my doctor’s office was closed and I was only there for like 2 or 3 hours and they said it was a UTI. Then about 3 weeks ago I got a bill in the mail for $ 279.00, which means that my insurance didn’t cover it all. I’m only 19 and im a full time college student with no job, so obviously I can’t really pay it right now, so what happens if I don’t pay it?

what happens when you don\t pay your emergency room bill what happends if you dont pay your emergancy room insurance deductible what happens if you dont buy an ER bill?

Call your insurance company. Emergency room visits are always covered unless it is because you have not met your deductible. If you do not pay the bill or make arrangements to set up a payment plan they will hound you. The amount will increase with interest. You will be unable to obtain student loans in the future because of this unpaid debt

They keep sending you a bill, it will go into credit and collection, and if you need the Emergency Room or the hospital again they can deny you.
You have to have insurance if you are in college..they should pay the bill.

They will continue to try to collect from you. Eventually you’ll go into collections. They will then sue you and most likely win. Then they’ll go after your bank accounts and garnish your wages. Oh, and your credit rating will be ruined in the process. Best that you work with them. They provided you a service based on the assumption you would pay them.

Yeah this happened to me once. I say pay it! Pay it any way you can. Borrow it if you have to. First off, its not much money AT ALL. ER Visits get into the thousands (i just got a bill for over 20k). If you dont it will go on your credit report as an uncollected bill. And they cant take it off either. Even after you pay. So get rid of it. Otherwise your bad credit will effect every credit card you have or loan you try to get…. its just not worth 280 bucks.
