Hi all

Can you ruin your credit rating but applying to a 5 banks for a credit card at the same time??
I was applying for my second card Online and for one bank I kept accidently putting in the wrong information in so obviously I kept applying now they keep refusing me a card.
I have never missed a payment But since I have accidently done this not realising what I was doing and the affects it would have on my credit score would this permanently ruin my credit rating??
What can I do to improve it?
Do I need to contact someone?
How long do I need to leave it?

The last card I applied for is the 26th august
thanks
Thank you for the answers so far they have really help reasured me.
I will leave it 6 months and see how it goes, Im so glad i havent ruined it, That was my biggest worry

Inquiries definitely hurt your credit, but you haven’t ruined your credit. It just drops it a few points, and creditors do not like to see a lot of inquiries. If you want to keep your credit good, keep 2-4 OPEN accounts (don’t close your credit card accounts), stay below 28% of your credit limit (that is VERY important), and pay monthly payments (do not pay it all off at once, they like to see that you are able to make payments). It is not as big of a deal as you probably think it is (the inquiries). Just pay your bills on time and follow those tips. Feel free to email me with any other questions about it. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Every time you apply for a credit card they deducted points from your credit score – give it at least 6 months and try again, there is no one you need to contact. If your current credit card is a high amount, even though you pay it each month, it depends on your income as there is a limit in what you can get depending on your income.
