We are looking at several houses in various areas on the SF Bay that have their own boat docks.* We are newbies when it comes to this feature, so we have several questions.* One thought we had was that it would be nice to have our own motorboat or other means of quick transportation (waverunner?) that would allow us to zip to or from various points of interest (downtown SF being the big one) without having to drive or even take a ferry.* However, we have no idea whether this is practical from the logistical standpoint.* Where do you dock such vehicles when you are there?* Say we wanted to spend the day in SF, are there facilities that would allow us to dock?* I know some restaurants have guest docks but I assume that is just for people to use when dining.* What about a waverunner?
Also, various houses have different sized docks and different depth water.* Are there regulations as to what type/size of boat can be used with each type of dock, or is it pretty much whatever type of boat you can fit at your dock you can keep there? We’re not looking to get a huge sailboat or anything, but we don’t want to wind up with a boat dock that can only launch a canoe when we were expecting to get a motorboat.
Any other input you could provide on this “plan” would be greatly appreciated.*
