I am only 23 years old, and when I was younger 18-20 I applied for alot of retail credit cards as well as a car loan. Throughout the time that I had these I was VERY irresponsible about paying them, and most went to collections. I have now paid off all of those accounts, and only have College loans remaining which I pay off every month, on time. And everyone tells me that in order to repair my credit/bad credit from past debts I need to do things like get credit cards and pay them off, this will build my credit. But how can I do that when NO ONE will approve me for a credit card? I just got married and want to buy a house in the future and am so scared. Please Help

If you paid everything off, that’s a good first step. You are not the first kid to screw up on credit, then straighten out when you are a little older.

Try for a department store credit card – those can be easier to get than a VISA or Master Card. Or even get a secured credit card for a small amount.

    Good luck.

Also you need to start disputing some of your old debts. The more of them you can have removed from your credit report, the better.

Don’t pay anyone anything…you can do this yourself realitivly easy. If you pay someone to help with credit repair sometimes this can actually do further damage. I am in a similar situation. I don’t have much time right now but here are a couple tips. First look into disputing EVERYTHING negative on your credit report. The only service I paid for was, they offer credit report and advice on how to clean up Your Own credit. Just by disputing everything negative through this site (which gives you letters and you can submit them automatically online) I was able to increase my score overnight!
