Can I be sued after a neighbor falls over her own boots while chasing her puppy in my front yard?
I had no liability insurance, she has medical insurance but says her insurance is going to have me pay her medical bills.

That’s the part that sucks about owning a home. You are liable for everything. A decent lawyer should get you out of it no problem

You are liable for injuries on your property; this is why people have liability insurance.

Her medical insurance company is going to sue you if you don’t pay those bills. Just hope that your neighbor doesn’t decide to sue you for pain and suffering on top of the bills.

Put up a fence, they make for better neighbors.

Yes you can be sued. Anybody can choose to sue but to be successful they have to prove that it was your negligence that was the direct cause of her injury. But here is the rub, even if the lawsuit is completely groundless and without merit you have to respond in court. Failure to respond will lead to a default judgment lodged against you. Hopefully her insurer will review the facts of the case and choose not to recover their payments of her medical expenses.

Are you sure you don’t have liability insurance? If you own a home with a mortgage you should have a homeowners insurance policy that would include personal liability.
