I currently babysit in my home. I live in NY state. I know that in NY state you can legally watch 2 children (not including your own) full time without being registered. That’s what i do right now. I’m interested in expanding the business. Getting registered, taking the necessary classes, taking on a partner, watching more kids, perhaps buying a location and running it like a real business instead of just watching kids in my living room. how do i get off the ground? get registered with county child care board first? or what? i just don’t even know who to talk to or where to start making this happen. thanks!!

3 Thoughts on can anyone give me step by step instructions on how to open a registered day care business?

Call your city clerk (look in the city government pages in the white page phone book) and ask. They’ve got the necessary information in the city’s ordinances.
