Omnia 2 – Speakerphone Question

I can’t seem to get speakerphone to work.  I even went back and read the manual.  When I make a call to another mobile phone it says Speaker On but they can’t hear me.  This can’t be complicated – what am I missing?

I am working on the assumption that if I’m not holding it to my face and the button says “Speaker On” that it’s on speaker phone.  The Menu item to “turn Hands-free On is grayed out.  The item to Turn Speakerphone On is enabled.  When I push it, it changes the speaker icon to “Speaker Off”.

Someone please give me a clue…
